What engine options will the 2020 Jeep Wrangler have?

New engine options on the Jeep Wrangler for the 2020 model year

The Jeep Wrangler is nothing short of an iconic piece of machinery. Built and developed during wartime, its construction and athletic performance evokes images of driving in high-pressure situations, which is why it’s become such a favorite SUV of adventure seekers and casual commuters alike.

For 2020, the Wrangler is coming outfitted with three available motors, one of which carries the hybrid functionality that was developed and released back in 2018. Come with Boucher CDJR today and check out the three new engine options on the Jeep Wrangler for the 2020 model year!

Conventional and hybrid engines on the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

The 2020 Wrangler will come with two engines, in the form of a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder (with 270 horsepower) or standard 3.6-liter V6 (producing 285 horsepower) option – though you can opt for a nonhybrid version of each, both also come outfitted with a mild hybrid setup known as eTorque. This system offers a 22-horsepower electric motor that can operate as an engine in its own right, but it’ll usually be used to kickstart your stop-start system.

Speaking of which, there are also rumors that the 2020 Wrangler will also offer a 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 engine as part of its packaging, but details are still vague. Once we get more information, we’ll be sure to pass it along!

Powertrain options for the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

If you’re looking to give the new Wrangler’s eTorque system a shot, be aware that it’ll only be available on four-door options of its Sahara trim. If you choose for its V6 engine, you’ll have a six-speed manual transmission standard, though an eight-speed automatic is also available – four-cylinder options will only give you an automatic to work with, but it’s one of the smoothest in the business.

As previously mentioned, all Wrangler models will offer Auto Start-Stop Technology, which shuts your engine off when you’re fully stopped to help conserve engine power and give you increased efficiency!
